Job Description/Role

Position Overview: NCH is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Inventory Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the inventory of our company. This role requires an individual who can maintain accurate records of inventory, reconcile stock levels, and provide financial insights related to stock holding.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Monitoring and Recording:

  • Monitor and record inventory transactions in the accounting system (MD 365).
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Make necessary inventory adjustments for key brands

Accounts Document Verification:

  • Verify and post purchase invoices for both local and import transactions.
  • Check proforma invoices against purchase orders and price lists.
  • Reconcile supplier statements of account (SOA) for payment purposes.

Monthly and Year-End Closing:

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure closing stock is compliant with IFRS standards and internal policies.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports.
  • Supplier reconciliations monthly.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze reports on inventory levels, adjustments, and variances.
  • Generate inventory stock reports detailing landed costs and price information.
  • Prepare cost reports and provide regular updates to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts related to product landed costs.

Audit Support:

  • Provide support during external audit processes.
  • Participate in annual stock-taking activities.
  • Assist in fulfilling annual audit report requirements.

Tax Reporting:

  • Prepare tax purchase reports for quarterly VAT filing purposes.
  • VAT compliance facilitation.
  • Corporate Tax compliance facilitation.

System Improvement:

  • Continuously assess and improve the accounting system to reflect current business and legislative requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for improving inventory accounting strategies and controls.
  • Assess inventory turnover and recommend strategies to minimize holding costs.
  • Implement cost control measures to improve efficiency and reduce wastage.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements or sourcing strategies.

Policy Maintenance:

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in reference to IFRS and latest regulations.
  • Maintain and update transfer pricing policies and other relevant policies.
  • Recommend improvements in inventory tracking and accounting processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with procurement and warehouse departments to track inventory movements.
  • Provide cost-related support to decision-making processes across the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to convey cost-related insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial goals are met.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as an accountant for a minimum 7 years.
  • Proficiency in MD 365 or similar ERP systems; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS standards and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; skilled in financial data analysis and report generation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy; effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; effective in cross-functional teamwork with procurement and warehouse departments.
  • Experience supporting external audits and familiarity with audit processes.
  • Knowledge of VAT and tax regulations; skilled in preparing tax reports and filings.
  • Ability to assess and improve accounting systems and processes; experience with cost control measures, process improvements, and identifying cost-saving strategies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or ACCA/CIMA/CMA/CIMA
  • Experience in the healthcare or industries relevant to the company’s operations.
  • Familiarity with specific inventory and procurement practices in the industry.
