We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Reporting Analyst to join our team.
Position Overview
The Financial Reporting Analyst role is to provide support to the Financial Reporting Manager on financial performance matters and assist in creating and implementing forecasting / budgeting tools and strategies that provide key stakeholders with relevant, accurate and timely management information which supports executive level decision making.
This role will work closely with various stakeholders including Accounting, Finance, and financial system teams to solve complex problems that directly impact the financial reporting, plus collaborating with Operations teams to enhance the overall financial performance. The appointed candidate will assist in drafting the consolidated financial statements of the ALEC Group as well as the stand-alone financial statements.
Responsibilities
- Providing timely, relevant, and accurate reports and analysis of performance against historical, budgeted, and forecasted results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement of the budget and strategic plan
- Analyzing current and past financial data and performance, and preparing reports and projections based on this analysis – key performance metrics, variance analysis, identifying trends and red flagging adverse events that could impact the business
- Providing detailed analysis and commentary on Business Unit results on a weekly and/or monthly basis
- Adopting a business partnering approach and providing essential financial advice and support to key stakeholders
- Ensuring business growth objectives are achieved through planning, coordination and production of budgets and forecasts in a timely manner
- Maintaining and developing financial models to aid planning processes, ensuring quality, accuracy, and focused analytical review
- Managing implementation and development of online analytical reporting tools and design efficient reports and databases
- Determining the company’s overall financial health, primarily by using key financial ratios such as the debt-to-equity ratio, current ratio, and interest coverage ratio
- Supporting the interim and year end audit process by liaising with external auditors and preparing and consolidating relevant information as and when required in a timely manner
- Preparing of periodic reports for requirements and compliance
- Participating in the automation of processes and system implementation for Finance as a key project member (i.e. ERP, BI Tool)
- Working closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Preparing of ad hoc reports and analysis as required by management
- Positively develops relationships with key stakeholders and business partners
Requirements
- Master’s / bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials in Accounting
- A professional accounting qualification e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification
- A very strong knowledge and experience of over 3 to 5 years in Financial Reporting, ideally within a large professional services company or similar environment
- Previous experience in an analytical role advantageous
- Excellent MS Office software proficiency: strong Excel skills required
- Thorough understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail – financial modelling experience an advantage
