Middlesex University Dubai is the first overseas campus of the internationally renowned Middlesex University in London. The campus, which opened in January 2005, has over 3,800 students from more than 114 nationalities. As the University continues to grow, an exciting position has arisen, where we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Marketing and Events Executive to join the team, of whom will play a critical role in managing events, conferences, exhibitions both on and off campus, guest lectures, as well as managing internal student and staff events and one of our largest events the University Graduation Ceremony. The position will also play a central role in recruiting students through a series of different initiatives; open days, professional development programmes, recruitment days, taster sessions, career days and off site events as part of the schools and corporate outreach programme both regionally and internationally.

Job Description

The Role

The Marketing and Events Executive role aims to build brand awareness and drive forward prospective student leads by managing Middlesex University Dubai’s annual events calendar. You will be responsible for driving forward new ideas and tactics for successful event delivery working with the wider marketing team to achieve our targets and KPI’s.  Your responsibility will be also to manage the student experience for both applicants and current students, being focused on acquisition, conversion and retention.

Our expectation is that virtual events will continue to feature prominently in our calendar, especially to support the engagement of our international students, but alongside we also plan to return to face-to-face events when circumstances permit.

Your work will involve careful strategic planning and execution enhancing the operation of the business, position or reputation.

Your work will often reach across all areas of the business and will be required to be flexible in your approach and working hours.

You will be a source of knowledge and expert in event development, especially in relation to digital delivery, online learning and helping to upskill presenters and participants to make the best use of digital tools in virtual delivery.

We are looking for someone with a track record in delivering successful events. You will need to be proactive and introduce innovative ideas.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Maintaining and developing the University Events Calendar for all audience types, prospective students, corporates, current students, staff and professionals.
  • Manage the Graduation and large format conferences and events taking place on and off campus
  • Making a substantial contribution to the University’s marketing activities by developing and promoting events and exploring new areas engagement for the different segments
  • Provide insights on events success and ROI, and bring other event success measurement tools
  • Develop and manage an event leads database within the CRM system that can be used for conversion purposes
  • Maintain and replenish an event location database including other suppliers; caterers, transport etc.
  • Research and identify new event participation opportunities – including new events we should participate in for recruitment and brand presence purposes both in domestic and international markets
  • Explore and initiate new event initiatives that would make us stand out from our competitors, including the use of new technology
  • Be the main person to welcome guests on to campus and at events, providing an end to end service including transport and accommodation as and when required
  • Support in the welcome of International students to Dubai and the University. Work closely with the International Team to review the entire welcome process, ensuring it is supportive, efficient and sustainable
  • Be the main point of feedback and recommendations from students/parents and event guests
  • Manage the student experience with the wider marketing and recruitment teams to ensure that all touch points of the student journey are of high quality
  • Work closely with the careers department, student activities, health and wellbeing committee and Alumni team to collaborate and execute successful events
  • Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
  • Think strategically – seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • Develop a promotional strategy and activities to meet your target audiences for each event in coordination with the marketing team
  • Keep on top of trends and changes in the events and customer experience world
  • Be a key user of the CRM system, recommending and suggesting best practice measures
  • Work closely with faculty and staff across the University to deliver ‘events on demand’, understanding what will work for the programme target audiences, working to deliver something different
  • Ensure compliance with law around copyright and data protection.

The successful candidate will hold:

  • Proven work experience as a Marketing and Events professional
  • A motivated self-starter with a proven ability to effectively collaborate and deliver
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • A good team player
  • A good understanding of systems usage [CRM, Leads, Database Management]
  • Good understanding of marketing and event strategies
  • Demonstrable expertise in developing and managing strong and effective relationships across a range of specialist stakeholders, clients, including senior management.
  • A strong performance measurement and monitoring background
  • A successful event, conference and exhibitions record for delivery across a range of different sectors, scales and audiences
  • Honours degree or higher degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant field.
