Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: UAE – Dubai

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage the financial operations across a group of companies. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations in the UAE. They will be responsible for overseeing the accounting team, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Oversee and manage the accounting operations of multiple companies, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual budgeting process, including forecasts and variance analysis.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare consolidated financial reports for the group of companies, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Provide regular financial analysis and reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate audit completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including VAT filings, and manage relationships with tax authorities.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support in their daily activities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, identifying areas for development and providing training as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the finance department.

Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop financial strategies that align with the company’s goals.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and drive growth.
  • Monitor industry trends and economic conditions, assessing their impact on the company’s financial performance.

System Management:

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions through automated systems.

Scope of Work

I. Daily Tasks:

  • Receive bills/invoices and ensure timely payments to suppliers/service providers.
  • Maintain records for payments released to suppliers/service providers.
  • Process online payments for utilities, telephone bills, and other official purchases through the company credit card, regularly monitoring the card balance.
  • Monitor daily balances of bank accounts and petty cash ledgers.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions.
  • Ensure effective email correspondences with recipients.
  • Receive telephone inquiries and communicate effectively.

II. Weekly Tasks:

  • Prepare Cheques Issuance report.
  • Prepare Group Companies Cash Position report.
  • Prepare Directors’ Personal Ledgers report.

III. Monthly Tasks:

  • Request maintenance to take DEWA sub meter readings for offices and showrooms.
  • Bill and collect from tenants towards their share in DEWA bills and monthly Sewerage & Irrigation charges.
  • Forward bills for DEWA and Sewerage/Irrigation charges to tenants.
  • Recharge and collect from Group companies for their share in telephone bills, petrol bills, and stationery supplies.
  • Calculate monthly Employees Gratuity Provision.
  • Prepare monthly Employees Salary files for WPS transfer.
  • Prepare monthly Fund Request to cover expenses related to real estate properties.
  • Invoice and collect payment from Group Companies for Head Office Admin Fees.
  • Reconcile bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and dividend distribution for residential properties.
  • Track inventory of stationery and pantry items and purchase required office supplies.

IV. Quarterly Tasks:

  • Prepare the Quarterly VAT filing report to be sent to the Consultant.
  • Make payments to FTA for the Quarterly VAT Return.

V. Yearly Tasks:

  • Prepare annual comparative financial reports for commercial and residential properties.
  • Conduct Budget Forecasting for the next calendar year.
  • Assist in coordinating renewals of Annual Maintenance Contracts for commercial and residential properties.
  • Bill tenants for their share in Annual Service charges and subscription renewals.
  • Recharge properties for their share of Property Insurance premiums.
  • Recharge and collect from Group Companies for their share in annual Medical Insurance, Employer’s Liability, and Group Life Insurance premiums.
  • Recharge and collect from Group Companies for their share in annual renewals of IT network upgrades, software licenses, and subscriptions.
  • Pay annual PO Box rentals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or ACCA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience managing the finances of multiple companies or a group of companies is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
