The opportunity
We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking senior logistics manager to join our established and growing team in UAE. Working on a high-profile mall and entertainment venue you will be responsible for leading and managing the logistics of a unique refurbishment project, under the supervision of the project director.
You will fully understand and comply with the project execution plan and ensure that all relevant parties you lead and supervise also understand these project targets in your day-to-day management of the project
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Having full participation in logistics strategic planning, logistics budget and cash flow forecasting.
- Managing and monitoring all logistical aspects of the project.
- Leading key logistics decisions including logistics budget assessment (where applicable), logistics plan preparation, logistics plan development, and procurement of client procured logistics services.
- Planning site set-up to move labor, plant, and materials around the site efficiently (i.e. hoarding, gates, site accommodation, cranes, hoists, security, temporary services, material delivery, waste management strategy, etc.).
- Planning internal and external logistics routes through the project phases focusing on separation of vehicles, machinery, and people, whilst taking into consideration interfaces with future planned works.
- Creating a secure site.
- Overseeing the traffic management internally and externally.
- Creating operational procedures and method statements.
- Organizing site inductions, ensuring induction records are securely stored.
- Creating a schedule of logistics meetings and ensuring logistics attendance at site meetings.
- Planning and integration of key contractors to meet the needs of the planned Programme and coordination of the temporary use of space on site.
- Managing any client procured logistics services to deliver their package of goods
- Managing the variation control and early communication of foreseeable change.
- Maintaining a detailed understanding of the commercial processes in operation.
- Keeping a record of key performance indicator (KPI) production.
- Ensuring method statements, risk assessments and lifting plans are produced.
- Defining and organizing all site signage to the agreed corporate standard.
- Ensuring that signage and signage symbols used are internationally recognized.
- Ensuring additional languages are used in signage to ensure messages are understood.
- Maintaining an asset register of all equipment. (where applicable).
- Ensuring all equipment is inspected, maintained, and tested to agreed frequencies.
- Planning and developing the project logistics strategies to support the wider delivery goals of the project.
- Creating and managing your team/contractor’s logistics teams.
- Monitoring project progress and set deadlines.
- Solving issues that arise, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and evaluating project performance.
- Developing the site-wide obligation documentation to be included within all contractors’ tender packages.
- Setting the expectations from the beginning.
- Developing best practice logistical solutions together with the client team.
- Reviewing and making client recommendations on technology and processes to streamline the logistics on-site with no impact on the live operational areas (DMS, consolidation centers etc)
- Overseeing, and collaborating with project management team members.
About You
You have good communication skills, you have people management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, you are pro-active and decisive, flexible to changing requirements, excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work closely with peers and external customers, and you can work to tight deadlines and to motivate and impart knowledge.
You have a degree qualification is preferred but not essential, professional memberships are an advantage but not essential (CIOB / CMILT), extensive experience in managing on-site, construction project logistics in the region, major international project experience is preferred, you motivate, encourage, and empower others, lead others in accordance with Mace manager behaviors, establish good relationships with clients and employees, seeking common ground, you have clearly expressed opinions, information, and key points of an argument with tact, bring new ideas, approach or insights to their work and suggest process improvements, persuade and influence others successfully towards a desired course of action, demonstrate a better perspective and explore innovative approaches in pursuit of a better way, utilize new technology and help others to adapt, present clearly and communicates effectively, in a confident manner, with their audience in mind.
