Job Purpose
To monitor, coordinate and supervise site activities and sub-contractors on a day-to-day basis aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned engineering projects as per latest, approved shop drawings and/or instruction from the line manager.
- Supervise the installation and pre-commissioning of mechanical works in accordance with project specifications and within pre-determined deadlines. Analyse and resolve site problems to remain on track.
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
- Assign responsibilities, mentor and supervise a site team to control the overall quality of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
- Study shop drawings and project documentation (and any revisions thereof), take off materials and prepare red-marked drawings for final as-built drawings.
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with the line manager and other project team members to provide assistance and technical support.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and reporting.
- Any other duties as reasonable requested by the line/function manager.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years in the construction industry in the UAE
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
- Working knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and MS Office
- Basic knowledge of local authorities’ requirements (RTA, DM, DEWA Etisalat, DU…)
- Ability to lead a site team to achieve goals
- Competent in conflict and crisis management
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Approachable and positive attitude.
- Fluent English language ability both spoken and written
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering license or Society of Engineers license
Working Conditions
- On-site
- Outdoors
- May be on-call out of regular office hours or on weekends in case of emergencies or deadlines
- Exposure to hazardous materials, loud noise and extreme heat
- May require travel between project sites
- Physical requirements including standing, walking and lifting
