Job Description/Role

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, reports, and forecasts in compliance with international accounting standards.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in financial performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

General Accounting:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper recording of financial transactions and adherence to internal controls.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.

Financial Planning and Strategy:

  • Develop and manage financial strategies, goals, and budgets aligned with Cavenwell’s growth objectives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis activities to identify risks and opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with various departments to provide financial expertise and support for business initiatives, projects, and transactions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management by providing financial insights and recommendations.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with financial standards and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Group Accounting:

  • Manage consolidated group accounting for various group entities within the UAE.
  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for group entities in overseas jurisdictions in accordance with IFRS, in line with the Group’s location growth plans.

VAT and Corporate Tax:

  • Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding of the UAE’s VAT and Corporate Tax landscape.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of VAT returns and liaise with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience within financial or professional services firms, such as a law firm or corporate services provider.
  • Thorough understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS) and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Xero and other accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • SQL, Database, or Data Analytics skills would be very welcome.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Cross-jurisdictional experience managing the accounting and finance function for group entities in other jurisdictions would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the UAE’s VAT and Corporate Tax landscape and experience filing VAT returns and liaising with the FTA.
