About the job

The Group Financial Controller is the deputy to the Group CFO, with responsibility to drive operational excellence within the finance function throughout Gargash Group. This job plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy, driving efficiency, and providing insightful financial guidance to the group.

Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Group CFO with the development and execution of the group’s financial strategy, in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide insightful analytics to the business, execute business transformation initiatives for the broader company and influence the strategic planning process.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor finance and accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal control systems throughout the Group to ensure that Group assets are safeguarded and optimizer.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with Business Verticals to establish financial targets and monitor performance against budget.
  • Ensure the capability of the finance teams and business teams to deliver high quality, timely and accurate financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to enable Business Verticals to manage cost and profit center’s effectively and ensure adherence and corrective action.
  • Identify areas for cost optimization’s and efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and scenario planning, to support decision-making and identify opportunities for growth and risk mitigation.
  • Manage and optimism the company’s cash flow and CAPEX to ensure liquidity and meet financial obligations. Implement effective cash management strategies and forecasting.
  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, including monitoring and active support of debt recovery in conjunction with the business.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate financial audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and resolve audit findings.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, including banking and financing partners, to optimism the company’s financial position.
  • Participate in due diligence and integration processes for potential mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures, ensuring a smooth transition of financial operations.
  • Embed the finance function throughout the business to be able to provide decision support to the Business Heads and key functions such as operations, HR, OOC etc.
  • Keep up to date with finance best practices, industry trends and other learning and development opportunities for the Group Finance team.
  • Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilize sound judgment in decision making.
  • Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial management, with a proven track record of success in a financial services company.
  • Proven track record of driving growth and profitability in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Qualification

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Preferably CA / ACCA / CPA/ MBA or advanced certification.

  • Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and communicate complex financial analyses to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial systems and tools, including ERP systems, financial modelling software, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in finance and accounting
