What You’ll Do
Build a world-class Business Finance function that plays an instrumental role in Careem’s future by delivering par excellence on the following requirements:
Business Finance
- Setting up the vision and strategy for the team, along with detailed plans and goals.
- Maintain influential relationships with key business customers and stakeholders and lead presentations on finance-related insights across the organization
- Drive operations strategy for Careem by understanding the macro realities of markets and business lines. This includes, but not limited to, scouting for ideas outside Careem.
- Create business cases and financial models for operations supported by data and analytics.
- Collaborate with a wider range of stakeholders including Product & Tech, Central Strategy, Care, Markets GM, Vertical Owners and support function heads.
Planning
- Provide critical inputs to leadership to make finance-related decisions in collaboration with the business
- Create business cases and financial models to launch new business lines supported by data and analytics
- Work on identifying new potential markets / segments / use-cases and devise the entry strategy
- Define organizational priorities on an annual and quarterly basis, at the group-level
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis and industry benchmarking needed for strategy articulation and assessment
Accounting
- Maintain accurate transaction recording process and GL maintenance.
- Review the reconciliations of payments, verification, bank statements, and transfers.
- Managing cash flow and petty cash reports for all cities.
Reporting:.
- Maintain monthly budgets and performance against targets
- Provide timely visibility to management on key decision making
What You’ll Need
The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer service, and a strong alignment with our core values: being bold, focused, agile and collaborative. Additional qualifications include:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field & professional accounting qualification
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally in technology companies in MENA
- Operational experience in hyper growth business, preferably fintech
- Experience in Oracle will be a plus
- Experience building function from scratch and managing regional teams
- Excellent communication skills in English and an additional language would be highly preferred
