Job Description:

Job Summary

  • Responsible in the provision of quality nursing care by maintaining accurate records in the EMR and in the maintenance of professional standards through continuing education and development.
  • Responsible for the orientation and induction training of new, junior Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses.
  • Accountable for ensuring all services rendered are consistent with their education and assessed competence, meet legislative requirements and are supported by appropriate standards.
  • Understands, supports and promotes the mission, vision and values of organization. Provides age appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by DoH.

Roles and Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Assessment
  • To perform and document patient assessment which incorporates all available data.
  • To use nursing knowledge and Clinical expertise in performing physical examination and patient assessment.
  • To identify from assessment, actual and potential problems in collaboration with patient and family.
  • To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.
  • Uses evidence based practice in the provision of care.
  • To plan, document and discuss nursing care plan with the patient and family using the nursing process and priorities of nursing care.
  • To continually update the nursing care plan as patient status demands.
  • To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.
  • To commence discharge planning as soon as it is feasible in collaboration with the patient, family and significant others.
  • To use the nursing process to set priorities in the delivery of care.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing care delivered by Practical Nurses.
  • Document in the EMR as required.
  • Coordinate care delivered by the multidisciplinary team.
  • Evaluation
  • To evaluate any and all changes in patient condition.
  • To revise the plan of care as necessary on the basis of evaluation.
  • To communicate evaluation and subsequent plan to patient/family / significant others and health team.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nursing School/University
  • Current BLS Certificate
  • Current ACLS / NRP preferred

Licenses, Registrations & Certifications Requirements

  • Current HAAD Nursing License
  • Current Home Country license

Professional Experience Required (Relevant to the Job)

  • At least 2 years clinical experience post qualification
  • Not less than 2 years’ experience in Operation Theatre

Qualifications Required:

  • BSc (Bachelors) Degree in Nursing (3+ years duration)
  • OR equivalent qualification from a recognized Nursing College/University
  • 2+ years experience post qualification as a Registered Nurse in an appropriate hospital setting
