I. Role Purpose
Partnering the Business Division to Control Key Business Drivers: Trade spends (Supplier /internally funded), ensuring proactive analysis & actions on risks /opportunities affecting Gross Margins and manage the financial aspects of relationships with Suppliers (receivables and supplier budget management).
II. Key Accountabilities
TRADE SPENDS MANAGEMENT (Supplier funded & Internally funded)
Commercial Budget management (Internal as well as Supplier Budgets)
- Manage the processes for authorizing trade spends channels and customers
- Collaborate with brand teams to ensure funds are made available (by Suppliers or Internal Budget owners) for commercial plans to be executed, and manage the budgets in Transmed systems
- Ensure system integrity for the authorizations of trade spends configured in the system
- Track usage of budgets at Customer/Channels and pro-actively intimate any risks/opportunities to the Commercial & Brand teams
Retailer Contracts & Key Business Drivers Management
- Partner with Commercial teams to provide financial insight for Contract negotiation and ensure financial risks are managed in the Contracts being negotiated by Commercial teams
- Validate contracts are in line with Agreed trade spend guidelines (as per Supplier recommendation for supplier funded investments)
- Manage Contractual rebate settlement process
Validating spending at Retailers – Manage Controls on Commercial Budgets
- Approve Trade spends being invested at the Retailers
- Manage Client Credit Notes Settlement process, including settlement of Contractual Business Drivers and other investments
- Ensure adequate proof of performance is provided to validate payments to clients
Accounting for P&L Accruals relating to trade spends
- Maintain tracking of accruals for trade spends versus actual spending and ensure accuracy of books of accounts in compliance with IFRS
RECEIVABLES FROM SUPPLIERS
Manage the process of claiming the funds invested in the customers & channels on behest of Suppliers. This involved:
- Ensuring that spending is done in alignment with Suppliers directions
- The Claims are well supported with proper proof of performance and proof of payment, in accordance with supplier requirements
- Organizing the process and controls which ensures that claims are raised ‘Right at First Time’
- Minimize the working capital invested in Supplier receivables by strong internal process and stakeholder engagement
PRICING
- Maintain the integrity of product pricing in line with contractual price structures and safeguard Gross margins of the Company
- Manage Price updates for Transmed selling prices and Landed Costs
PROFITABILITY ANALYSIS
Planning & Budgeting analysis
- Support the business to prepare & report financial budgets
- Analyze business performance versus budgets to highlight risk and opportunities and propose proactive solutions
Gross Margin analysis
Provide support to deliver business performance targets by providing:
- Sales & Margin Analysis at brand level
- Sales & Margin Analysis for key account/channels
- Monthly reporting of Business Gross margins by brand/supplier/channels using group reporting software
Inventory analysis and risk management
- Analyze inventory ageing levels in the warehouse and ensure minimizing non-performing inventory
- Collaborate with commercial & supply chain teams in sales forecasts and highlight risks/opportunities
- Collaborate with commercial & supply chain teams to track & control inventory levels in the trade
Business Partnering
- Advising on new projects & ad hoc analysis for the business
- Identify risk & opportunities for the P&L
- Advise on Commercial Business deals
III. Role Requirements:
- Professional qualification in finance i.e. ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- 8 years of overall finance experience of which 3 years engaged in Commercial finance in a distribution environment (preferably in FMCG industry
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel
- ERP experience (Oracle JD Edwards)
