To develop and lead the effective implementation of the Finance & Risk Audit Unit assurance strategy and plans by carrying out audit engagements ensuring adequate financial controls and effective mitigation of risks under the approved policies and procedures and general guidance of the Chief Group Internal Audit in a manner that will accomplish GIA’s objectives and fulfills the purpose and responsibilities.

Assists Chief Group Internal Audit in preparing a comprehensive, long-range Audit Plan covering the Financial Control, MIS & Budgeting, Taxation & Financial Accounting, Risk Management, Wholesale Credit Policy Portfolio Management & Analytics, Retail Credit Policy Portfolio Management & Analytics, Special Account Management, Data Governance corporate functions of DIB. Prioritizing the audit assignments based on risk assessment, and scheduling of follow-up activities in an effective and efficient manner.
Coordinates with Chief Group Internal Audit in preparing GIA staffing plans and financial budgets, including the number of auditors and the knowledge, skills, and disciplines required to achieve the approved plan.
Identifies the activities subject to audit, evaluates their significance and assesses the degree of inherent risk in the activities in terms of cost, schedule, and quality.
Establishes the structure of the Finance & Risk Audit Unit and monitors the accomplishment of its objectives aiming at increasing GIA’s ability to service management.
Assign areas, staff, and Team Leaders of individual audit assignments. Counsel and guide auditors to ensure that the approved audit objectives are met and adequate coverage is achieved.
Supervises the performance of audit work with a planned approach and within agreed time frames.
Establishes standards of performance and by review, determines that performance meets the standard.
Direct the planning, execution, and reporting of individual audit assignments to ensure that professional standards are maintained. Maintain quality in carrying out audit assignments to ensure the performance of all aspects of the audit, at a high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure that subordinates keep abreast of professional developments and monitor professional development programs for assigned employees.
Advise management on new developments that affect portfolio/control and provides a solution in a proactive manner.
All the above accountabilities include but not limited to any additional/new tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Line Manager.
Work Experience
Minimum 8-10 years audit experience in internal or external audit, 5 years experience with Finance and Risk audit responsibilities. Big4 experience is required
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or Finance from a recognized institution.
Possession of internationally recognized certification in Credit Risk Management or CA/CPA will be an advantage.
