Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Chief Accountant shall handle the full spectrum of financial needs for the company including: preparing financial and performance reports, assisting departments with annual budgets and reviews, tax studies, and cost accounting role, e.g., Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, General Ledger, forecasting, etc. The Chief Accountant is responsible for day-to-day finance and accounting operations. Perform full set of accounts and ensure timely closing of accounts.

Job Description:

  • Assist the Operations Director in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to finance and accounting needs of the company.
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Enters or directs the entry and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost,
  • Property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Conducts, or participates in cost analyses and rate studies.
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Develops procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Reviews financial statements as required with the direct report.
  • Manages the deployment and maintenance of new accounting, inventory, property, and other related procedures.
  • Work with internal auditors and prepare and provide necessary documentation as per requirement
  • Any administrative duties as required or assigned.
  • Complete and distribute official receipts, tax vouchers (where applicable)
  • Follow established collection procedures on all A/R older than 30 days past due as advised
  • Check all invoices are coded to the correct expense project allocation, including the petty cash reimbursement report
  • Enter invoices, receipts and expenses to accounting system as required and print monthly checklist to ensure accuracy of date entered.
  • Review all accounts payable report regarding outstanding invoices and schedule of payments and forward reports to Operations Director for Approval. Prepare cheque run monthly and all other cheques as required.
  • Reconcile the Bank with the Bank account in G/L monthly.
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Asset register. Seek approval and process any write offs for damaged equipment and depreciation.
  • Assist the Operations Director in any ad-hoc project or assignment as and when required

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full use of the filing system and databases
  • Be punctual and on time to commence work.

  • Assist and work together as part of a team, creating and maintaining a harmonious work environment. Be readily available at all times to deal with problems or concerns

Qualification & Experience

  • A degree in Accounting Management with 10+ years related experience.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Possess strong administrative skills, timely project completion, record keeping, monthly reporting, time management and organizational skills
  • Possess a passion for the design industry, motivation and a team player attitude
