Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Controller to lead and manage our finance team and oversee all operational aspects of financial management. The Financial Controller will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, reporting, and compliance while driving process improvements and optimizing financial performance. This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to manage day-to-day financial activities effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage a high-performing finance team, including accountants, financial analysts, and other operational finance staff.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to team members to ensure their growth and alignment with company goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment while promoting continuous learning and improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and support for career development.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on individual strengths and business priorities.

Financial Operations Oversight:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts in compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Streamline processes for efficient day-to-day financial management, implementing best practices in financial operations and reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure liquidity and effective fund management.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and long-term financial planning.
  • Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance, providing insights and actionable recommendations to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Evaluate and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards to mitigate risk and maintain the company’s financial integrity.
  • Coordinate external audits and work closely with auditors to ensure timely and accurate financial audits.
  • Stay updated on financial regulations and industry trends to ensure the company adapts to changes and minimizes risks.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously identify opportunities for improving financial processes and systems to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve accuracy.
  • Implement and oversee financial software and tools to streamline operations and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, sales, and HR, to ensure financial alignment across the organization.
  • Provide financial insights and support to department heads, assisting in decision-making processes related to costs, investments, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on all matters related to finance and operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or other professional certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or in a similar senior financial role, with at least 7 years of experience in finance operations and team management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), and best practices.
  • Experience with financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, QuickBooks, Excel).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
