Job Description

Vessel accountant is responsible for completing daily, monthly, quarterly and annual close of Operating Expenses (OPEX) in accordance with applicable accounting standards (eg. IFRS) and local requirements.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for all accounting entries required for assigned vessels related to OPEX
  • Ensure proper classification of OPEX cost
  • Intercompany transactions and reconciliation
  • Prepare payments
  • Records and reconciles vessels’ monthly and quarterly reports
  • Prepares monthly Purchase Order list showing outstanding committed costs to be reviewed by Purchaser and Superintendent
  • Maintain and improve financial reporting, internal processes and control
  • Work closely with Crewing, Operations, Purchasing, Safety, Technical teams
  • Prepares monthly schedules and reports for OPEX with deviation analysis
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Ad hoc tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accountancy or similar
  • Knowledgeable of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • At least 4-5 years of accounting experience
  • Prior vessel OPEX experience with international clients
  • Good computer skills including working with general ledger systems.
