The Trade Finance Specialist will be responsible for managing and facilitating financial transactions related to international trade. This role involves working closely with clients, banks, and suppliers to ensure the smooth execution of trade transactions, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade Documentation & Processing:
  • Manage and review trade finance documentation, including letters of credit, bills of lading, invoices, and other trade-related documents.
  • Ensure proper documentation compliance in accordance with international trade regulations and financial agreements.
  • Risk Management:
  • Evaluate and manage financial risks associated with international trade, including currency fluctuations, credit risks, and payment defaults.
  • Advise clients on trade finance products and services to mitigate risk.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, offering support and solutions for their trade finance needs.
  • Assist clients in the selection and execution of appropriate trade finance products, such as letters of credit, trade credit insurance, and factoring.
  • Trade Finance Solutions:
  • Structure and provide trade finance solutions that support import and export transactions.
  • Work closely with banks, financial institutions, and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely processing of trade finance products.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
  • Ensure compliance with local and international trade regulations, including anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide guidance on trade finance compliance matters.
  • Transaction Management:
  • Monitor the flow of funds and payments, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Handle disputes or discrepancies in trade documentation and transactions.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare and present regular reports on trade finance activities, including transaction volumes, financial performance, and risk exposure.
  • Conduct financial analysis to evaluate trade transaction viability and profitability.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, International Trade, or a related field.
  • years of experience in trade finance or a similar role, preferably in an international banking or financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of trade finance products (e.g., letters of credit, trade credit insurance, export financing).
  • Familiarity with international trade regulations, compliance standards (AML/KYC), and payment systems.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in financial software, Microsoft Office Suite, and trade finance platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
