Employment Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non exempt
Pay Rate: $20.38 – $23.44 / per hour starting rate

Experience Required: Experience equivalent to two (2) years in Finance or Accounting or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties of the job.

Minimum Education Requirements: Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or a combination of education and experience.

Job Summary: The Accountant maintains detailed accounting records for accounts payable and other projects. This position also supports the day‐to‐day operations of the Cash Control office.

Essential Job Functions: An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

  • Performs Accounts Payable functions to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Contacts vendors to obtain W-9 and other new vendor paperwork as needed
  • Enter new AP vendors and W-9 information.
  • Reviews check requests for accurate information, budgetary compliance and assign for proper approvals in accordance with the Zoo’s purchasing policy.
  • Reconciles monthly statements from vendors and follows up to keep accounts current
  • Fills out purchase requests or check requests for Admin, Finance, and others as needed
  • Assists with Fixed Asset invoices and record keeping.
  • Generate AP and AR reports as requested for year-end audit.
  • Assist with preparing year end 1099s for vendors.
  • Data entry and report preparation using Word, Excel, Great Plains, ACME, Oracle.
  • Assist with RFP process and with contracts and agreements.
  • Logs and files contractor certificates of insurance.
  • Assist with daily Cash Control functions, including preparing and distributing cash bags, petty cash transactions, preparing bank deposits and reports.
  • Files relevant documents for Finance dept, and assists with projects and surveys.
  • Provide administrative support for the Finance team.
  • Prepares special reports as needed.
  • Audit all employee P-Card transactions.
  • Prepare AR and other checks for deposit and deliver to Cash Control.
