Overview
Purpose of the role:
The purpose of the role is to ensure accurate and compliant management of financial transactions, supporting both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. The primary purpose is maintaining precise financial records, facilitating timely payments and receipts, and upholding strong relationships with vendors and customers. The accountant is instrumental in achieving financial transparency, adhering to accounting principles, and fostering a robust financial framework for the organization’s success
The role includes but is not limited to:
Objectives:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, producing and distributing monthly schedules for Work in Progress (WIP) and debtors, and creating financial performance reports using Excel
- Support the Finance Manager and operational staff in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, providing reports on variances between actual and budgeted contracts and overhead expenses
- Streamline and optimize general ledger processes, identifying automation opportunities for enhanced efficiency
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations and accounting standards, assessing and mitigating financial risks strategically
- Strategically allocate financial resources, providing insights for budget allocation to support key strategic initiatives
- Process all accounts payable transactions promptly and accurately, ensuring adherence to established timelines and accounting principles.
- Verify the accuracy of invoices, maintain positive relationships with vendors, address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and negotiate favorable terms when applicable.
- Reconcile vendor statements regularly, ensuring compliance with company policies, relevant accounting standards, and legal requirements
- Maintain organized documentation for all accounts payable transactions, contribute to the preparation of financial reports related to accounts payable, and provide analysis and insights into key accounts payable metrics
- Ensure the prompt and accurate processing of incoming payments, conduct regular reconciliations of accounts, implement and manage credit control strategies, and communicate effectively with clients to address inquiries, resolve payment issues, and maintain positive relationships
- Maintain comprehensive and organized financial records, ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, and accounting standards
- Implement a tracking system for timelines and milestones within the accounts receivable process, facilitating effective project management and timely completion of tasks
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) can be advantageous
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience
