Job Description/Role
Job Purpose:
Group Tax Manager at AWR is responsible for assisting Head of Group Tax in managing all aspects of Group’s tax management and tax operational support, including both Direct and Indirect Taxes.
This is a mixed role (50:50) whereby candidate should have knowledge and skills of Direct and Indirect Taxes.
Expected to be well versed with developing tax strategy, tax management monitoring and controls, tax planning and tax optimization, tax advisory to operations & various internal departments/functions.
Responsible to ensure compliance on BEPS, transfer pricing, country-by-country reporting and other global tax compliances, efficiently managing effective tax rate (ETR), review and finalization of tax disclosures (both VAT and CIT) and deferred taxes, implementation of new taxes & tax automation and managing uncertain tax risks positions (both VAT and CIT) across countries and business lines of operations.
Will extensively be required to work with multiple function owners to support on various tax requirements & guidance and review of tax scenarios and reporting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interfaced with management and other key decision makers regarding tax implications of business initiatives. Researching and preparing materials for projects related to tax planning considerations.
- Manage independently important compliance processes: monthly corporate tax closing and calculations, annual corporate tax return for Tax Group preparation, monthly VAT calculations and preparation of the VAT Group tax return.
- Support/analyses and interprets proposed changes to legislation and business activities to determine tax impact and ability to administer. Educating non-tax personnel on tax-related matters.
- Maintained and analyzed all tax risks positions, corporate tax and deferred taxes provisions and prepare tax disclosure and tax footnote in global consolidated financial statement.
- Proactively work towards identifying key areas of improvement, and drafting guidelines/ policies/ procedures to ensure best practices are adhered to within the AWR Group.
- Proactively identify tax risks for the business and work with advisors and stakeholders to ensure changes in tax law and regulations are duly complied with.
- Assist in the development, feasibility modeling, and implementation of Company’s global tax strategies. Support key business initiatives; communicate financial impact of taxes in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Stay up to date with the latest relevant tax legislative changes and support prepare the group for implementation of changes in tax regimes. Perform tax impact assessment, transaction flows analysis, trainings & advisory and systems updates and implementation support.
- Keep account of tax contingencies (or potential contingencies) associated to key tax positions taken in operating jurisdictions. Identify tax risks by working together with corporate, regional and local finance and business personnel and optimize those tax risks.
- Assist in mergers & acquisitions by performing due diligence procedures and integrating acquired company’s financial systems into existing systems. Assist in completion of tax related due diligence and determination of potential outstanding tax liabilities of acquired subsidiary.
- Support Parent Group and Management in terms of compliance with tax requirements such as country-by-country reporting (CBCR), VAT returns, CIT returns, Economic Substance Regulations (ESR), CRS/ FATCA etc.
- Support country and business units finance and tax teams to facilitate resolution of tax audit exercises within the operating jurisdiction.
- Withholding/foreign tax management and optimization for cross border transactions of Group’s subsidiaries. Effectively manage utilization of double tax avoidance treaties and withholding tax refunds.
- Effectively maintain a compliance tracker to plan & ensure tax compliances of subsidiaries.
- Conduct a periodic tax health check of relevant business and legal entities from tax control perspective and put in place the required mitigation strategy.
- Review major contracts from tax perspective and participate with legal and functional teams on finalization of negotiations and dealings.
- Work with tax automation mindset. Continuously explore opportunities to improve tax controls, framework and tax reporting.
- Analyze cross-border mobility risk for corporate and individual tax consequences and provides suitable tax recommendations.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities and advisors. Liaison with external auditors as required.
- Shall be well versed with all aspects of tax compliances and tax filings in various jurisdictions and ensure tax compliances (i.e. Corporate, Employees, Withholding, Global Reporting, etc.) are done in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualification, Experience & Skills:
Minimum Qualifications/education:
Bachelor Degree or above in Commerce / Economics / Finance/ Taxation with professional qualifications such as a CA, CPA, CTA, or other relevant to tax specialization is necessary.
Minimum experience:
8+ years in similar function.
Skills:
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to train on system usage.
- Awareness of counties laws, rules and regulations and quickly able to analyze and adapt laws changes.
- MS Office Package (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Operating Systems such as JDE, SAP and Oracle will be value addition.
- A good mix of Industry and Advisory firm experience is expected.
