Job Description/Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Controller to join our hospitality team. This multifaceted role will be responsible for overseeing stock ordering and management, receiving and storing deliveries, as well as managing banking and safe controls, including the handling and distribution of staff tips. The ideal candidate will work closely with venue leadership to ensure efficient operations and accurate financial management within the venue.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to determine stock needs and quantities.
  • Place orders with approved suppliers ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
  • Monitor stock levels and conduct regular inventory checks.
  • Implement measures to minimize stock wastage and loss.
  • Receive deliveries and verify contents against purchase orders.
  • Ensure proper storage of stock items in designated areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas.
  • Manage banking activities, including cash deposits and withdrawals.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with cash handling procedures and security protocols.
  • Conduct regular audits of the safe and cash registers.
  • Oversee the collection and recording of staff tips.
  • Safeguard tips and ensure fair and transparent distribution among staff.
  • Address any discrepancies or concerns related to tip distribution.
  • Work closely with bar leadership to coordinate stock requirements and resolve any issues.
  • Provide regular reports on stock levels, financial transactions, and tip distributions.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of financial principles and procedures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven track record in inventory management and financial accounting.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and software.
  • Understanding of food and beverage industry trends and practices.
