Job Description/Role
Role Overview :
As our Regional Operations Manager, you’ll spearhead and coordinate all operational activities, from vessel scheduling to cargo handling, to guarantee the smooth and efficient movement of goods.
Your role is multifaceted and pivotal. You’ll oversee vessel schedules, optimizing departures and arrivals while maximizing cargo loading efficiency. Constant monitoring of vessel activities and close communication with local agencies and container terminals will be essential to ensure timely and reliable service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and coordinate all operational activities within the region, including vessel scheduling, cargo handling, port operations, and terminal management, to ensure smooth and efficient maritime transportation services.
- Coordinate and manage vessel schedules, ensuring timely departures and arrivals while optimizing cargo loading and unloading processes to maximize efficiency.
- Monitors vessels’ activities, conducts communication with local agencies, container terminals and depots so as the vessels to be on schedule for a reliable service.
- Collaborate with the sales department to forecast bookings and plan vessel capacities accordingly.
- Designs Vessel Schedules in line with the berthing windows at the ports and commercial demands from Sales department.
- Monitor vessel activities and maintain communication with ships’ commands to coordinate route optimization for economical operations.
- Facilitate EDI file exchange between vessels and container terminals, ensuring seamless communication.
- Provide regular service reports to top management on a weekly basis, analysing performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
- Monitor container inventories across locations and plan repositioning of empty containers as per operational needs.
- Approve special shipments such as dangerous goods (DG), reefers (RF), or out-of-gauge (OOG) cargoes.
- Prepare profit and loss (P&L) reports per voyage monthly, analysing financial performance and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications :
- Language: English (advanced)
- Degree: min. Bachelor’s degree (preferably maritime, logistics, shipping)
- Experience: 8-10 years in container shipping industry (preferably in shipping lines)
