The Assistant Accounting Manager supports the Accounting Manager in overseeing the accounting and finance operations for the Continent’s Administrative Entities. This position assists in ensuring that accounting activities comply with company procedures, policies, and US GAAP. Additionally, the role involves providing support for local financial reporting requirements across the EMEA region and support with other general entity related administration needs. This position helps implement office-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the target customer: division leaders, department heads, office associates and MI Corporate. The incumbent aids in driving key finance initiatives to align execution and business results with the Continent’s and MI strategy, creating strong internal controls which minimize risk and safeguard company assets. This individual reports to the Accounting Manager.
Expected Contributions
- Ensure there is no MIP 66 item and action any that may arise in a quarter to ensure it does not re-occur.
- Perform all tasks in a timely manner ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
- Comply with Marriott International policies and procedures.
- Be proactive and have a flexible approach to work, always meeting the needs of the team and the business.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Financial management experience required; hotel finance and accounting experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures, and techniques of accounting, and of financial records and transactions including, but not limited to, US GAAP and multi-currency transactions.
- Developed accounting, finance and analytical skills including experience with cash management, forecasting, revenue management strategies, long-term capital expenditures planning and project management skills.
- Resourceful in resolving issues and solving problems, leveraging resources to get results.
- Translates business needs into what needs to get done; ensures that all work is completed effectively; maintains high performance standard; works effectively by using a highly collaborative style.
Qualifications & Required Experience
- College or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Qualified Accountant preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in team collaboration, supervision, and staff development.
- Experience working with accounting software, PeopleSoft (Oracle) preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
