Regional DBS Finance Manager

Role overview:

Global Finance is integral to HSBC’s purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing costs and deploying capital in the most effective way. Our global team of finance professionals’ partner with the business to provide trusted insights and forward-looking analysis; accuracy; efficiency and control to frame and influence business decisions.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the MENAT Head of Strategic Cost Management and partner with HSBCs Finance community, Global Finance Centres, DBS teams, Global Businesses and Global Functions to deliver controls, processes, strategic plans, forecasts, analysis, insights, and performance reports for MENAT.
  • Consolidate, critically review, analyse, and capture commentary on delta, risks and opportunities through a robust reporting framework for the region, and they will pro-actively drive reporting enhancements as needed.
  • Lead engagement with key DBS stakeholders, and work closely with the MENAT Transformation Office and COO teams across businesses and legal entities ensuring consistent reporting and understanding of DBS Charges and Strategic Investments
  • Responsible to drive analysis and insight on Technology Charges across the MENAT region, with a focus on understanding and enabling clear representations of investment spend (including key regional strategic initiatives) and acting as a key contact point for Technology financial queries.
  • Promote the evolution of Technology planning tools as the ‘golden source’ for financial reporting to ensure clear understanding and connection to MENAT Strategic Initiatives and wider Group investment activity.
  • Drive consistent understanding and clarity about Software Capitalization and Amortization impacts to Technology Change the Bank (CTB) investment across country and business teams.
  • Lead understanding of CTB investment and impact on inter-company charges
  • Due to the high degree of change in the industry, regulatory environment, macroeconomic environment and internally, the role holder will be required to be comfortable with ambiguity and be adaptable to the evolving environment to support the change programmes, enabling the realisation of programme objectives, including working closely with key stakeholders to re-engineer processes.

Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience in operating at a senior level within complex Financial Services organisations (Banking preferred)
  • An excellent level of business analysis experience requiring strong technical and commercial understanding of what drives the numbers reported.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of excellent stakeholder management, working effectively across teams and problem solving with the confidence to make measured decisions which may have far reaching implications.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Execution oriented: proactive escalation of issues whilst maintaining solution focused and flexible approach to accommodate the changing business/function needs.
  • Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions to poorly defined problems.
  • Strong communication skills – applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations)
  • Strong influencing, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
  • Sound judgment, decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercially minded and customer focused.
  • A professional Finance qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) preferred.
