Job Description
This is a hybrid role requiring three defined days per week in the Northbrook and/or Chicago offices.
We are looking for a resourceful, passionate and experienced Staff Accountant to join our Americas GL Accounting team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing the month-end close for several legal entities in North America with a focus on Canada. They will report to the Americas Accounting Manager and work closely with other accountants across the globe as well as Finance and business counterparts.
Responsibilities
- Record routine and ad-hoc journal entries requiring understanding of US GAAP, use of analytical skills, and coordination with other resources to prepare
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and be held accountable for understanding the account balances and resolving reconciling items
- Perform SOX controls in areas of responsibility
- Adhere to month-end close deadlines
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Support tax and statutory requests
- Perform analysis over balance sheet and P&L fluctuations in areas of ownership
- Participate in process improvement and other accounting research projects such as automating work, reducing accounting errors, system implementations, etc
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2 plus years of directly related general ledger accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
- Advanced Excel skills, including vlookups and pivot tables.
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact with all areas of Accounting & Finance
- Works well independently as well as with a team
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Global, Public company experience including working in a SOX environment.
- CPA
- Experience with Oracle EBS and ARCS
