Title And Summary

Director, Payroll, Benefits and Absence

Overview

Lead the Global Payroll, Benefits and Absence operations functions delivering transaction excellence and “priceless” customer service, creating value and contributing to the overall business impact of MasterCard’s multi-function GBSC.

Role

  • Lead efforts to harmonize payroll, benefit, and absence service delivery across the globe and oversee regional efforts toward global process efficiency, effectiveness and standardization while allowing for local flexibility.
  • Establish strong protocols for timely and accurate processing of all payroll transactions and define payroll quality controls and audit methodology for delivery teams; lead program to align current activities to these standards.
  • Provide functional leadership in the implementation, administration and communication of benefit and absence programs for all global, local and statutory plans
  • Fulfill compliance and reporting requirements by maintaining knowledge of rules and regulations related to Leave of Absence, Worker Compensation, and benefits in partnership with the Legal team and Total Rewards
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders in Controllership, Tax, Total Rewards, and Legal to ensure that payroll processes and practices set up to deliver against defined procedures, guidelines, legal requirements and in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Keep up to date on required regulatory/compliance requirements and ensure compliance with corporate and country specific policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial information; compliance with Company policies and procedures including SOX and other internal control requirements
  • Partner with CRM and/or Delivery teams to identify areas of opportunity within the existing process and drive continuous improvement efforts
  • Manage third party vendors to uphold service standards
  • Lead payroll activities for new M&A and Country/Legal Entity expansion
  • Measure and monitor the effectiveness of the Global Payroll, Benefit and Absence function
  • Provide coaching and leadership to a team of professionals

All About You

  • Previous experience leading a global function and a global team. Able to attract, inspire, develop and retain a high performing team.
  • Strong knowledge of HR, Payroll, Benefit and Absence processes, procedures, and best practices in an operations role, preferably and shared service environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across a global organization at multiple levels and business units.
  • Ability to effectively manage vendors, ensuring adherence to contracts and service level agreements.
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast paced, deadline focused, changing environment.
  • Strong client services mentality and able to develop strong working relationships with your team, internal partners, and vendors to deliver a high-quality service
  • Demonstrated leadership in complex situations and is viewed as a credible subject matter expert to all levels of senior management
  • Solid project management experience inclusive of process design and system optimization
  • Deep understanding and use of key technologies that drive automation and efficiency
