The Applied AI Company (AAICO) is seeking an experienced, proactive Senior Bookkeeper to contribute to the group’s day-to-day financial and accounting function. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of bookkeeping and/or accounting in the UAE.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with knowledge of accounting principles and regulations. The Senior Bookkeeper will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing essential financial insights to aid decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Reconcile Accounts:
- Perform monthly bank account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions.
- Reconcile other financial accounts, such as credit cards and petty cash.
Manage Payroll:
- Oversee the payroll process, including salary calculations, benefits administration, and compliance with labor regulations.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries to employees.
- Process employee expense reimbursements and review provided evidence.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, verifying expenses, and making payments to vendors.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer payments to ensure timely collection.
General Ledger Maintenance:
- Maintain and update the general ledger to accurately record all financial transactions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Financial Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role is required.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices is required.
- Knowledge of Abu Dhabi’s financial and tax regulations is preferred.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is desirable.
