Role: WBN Finance Manager

Role Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Reporting to: Finance Director – MET

Location: Dubai, UAE

Reporting into the Finance Director, the key purpose of this role is to:

  • Act as finance business partner to the Head of Middle East Wholesale, Vault and Delivery Service Team to:
  • Support the establishment and growth of a sizeable Wholesale FX offering across the Middle East
  • Provide support and challenge to the Wholesale and regional leadership team
  • Independently provides strong commercial insight & support to the business
  • Takes ownership for delivery of high standard outputs on a timely basis, including monthly reporting and forecasts
  • Develops a collaborative working relationship with the onshore Retail finance managers (UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman) & offshore (Mumbai) finance team and proactively drives efficient working practices
  • Act as finance lead on all Wholesale projects, including but not limited to the implementation of Wholesale systems. Attend project meetings, drive design discussions, agree processes, testing and sign off. Ensure all financial processes and outputs are thoroughly tested and signed off.
  • Understand the businesses contracts and regulatory requirements and ensure appropriate application of accounting standards, payments are administered on a timely basis and all Wholesale related Central Bank reporting and requests are addressed on a timely basis.
  • In conjunction with Retail finance managers, manage external and internal audits. Ensure all audit findings are addressed on a timely basis.
  • Take ownership for maintain appropriate financial controls. Identify any deficiencies in existing controls and proactively propose additional controls to address these.
  • Identify efficiencies in processes and reporting and proactively drive an improvement agenda (front office and back office).
  • Develop strong systems knowledge (SAP, Wholesale systems) and utilise it to provide insightful value add reporting

Key tasks in the role

  • Reporting and analysis:
  • Accountable for month end close and management reporting
  • Preparation of ad hoc analysis and board papers
  • Work closely with Head of Wholesale, Vault and Delivery Service Team, to support them across all matters.
  • Proactively establish processes, deliver solutions and solve problems.
  • Work hand in hand with Wholesale settlements team to facilitate timely settlement confirmation
  • Monitor and review currency hedging, exposure and revaluation
  • Accountable for balance sheet management. Maintaining appropriate financial controls. Ensures all balance sheet reconciliations are completed on an accurately and timely basis and are reviewed and signed off.
  • Regulatory:
  • Monthly wholesale reporting to central banks across the Middle East
  • Responding to central bank wholesale requests and managing central bank audits in conjuncture with Retail finance managers
  • Commercial decision support on a day to day basis, together with preparation of business cases
  • Preparation of forecasts / budgets including clear articulation of the assumptions, risks and opportunities
  • In conjecture with Retail Finance Managers, take ownership for managing external and internal audits. Ensure all audit findings are addressed on a timely basis.
  • Identify efficiencies, savings and process improvements
  • Utilise systems and accounting knowledge to drive improvements in reporting, successfully deliver projects to meet regulatory requirements and / or business needs, support new product offerings and drive efficiency in reporting and processes

Knowledge, Skills and personal qualities:

  • Qualified Accountant (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA), with a minimum of three years post qualification experience
  • Experience within fast paced medium to large commercial organization
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP, preferred
  • Experience proactively managing expectations of multiple stakeholders and consistently delivering to agreed deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to challenge constructively when required to do so
