Job Description
Our financial systems are the engine that allows Raha Beach Ventures to move forward. We are looking for a junior accountant to assist in keeping our and our clients’ finances accurate and informed. The accountant will have an immediate and long-term impact on all corporate activities, enabling us to strategize savings, conduct effective audits, provide key information to leadership, and (ultimately) strengthen our financial situation. Raha Beach Ventures is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to both customers and employees, and this begins with maintaining our own finances consistently, meticulously structured, and vitally strategic.
Objectives of this Role
- Anticipate industry changes, including market shifts, consumer preferences, and the efficacy of our business, and advise management accordingly.
- Execute precise reporting, allowing the department to examine alternatives and provide financial suggestions in line with the company’s objectives.
- Guide the organization in securing our financial information and that of our clients, and lead or participate in special projects as required inside the department, within a broader finance environment, and/or cross-functionally.
- Periodically enhance and document all accounting control procedures, detecting system flaws and recommending enhancements.
- Adhere to legal financial obligations by researching existing and new legislation, enforcing compliance, and advising management on necessary measures.
- Continue your education with classes, workshops, webinars, professional publications, networks, and organizations.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Periodically and on demand, collect all required reports and detailed support, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, revenue projections, budgets, and cash-flow statements.
- Ensure the accuracy of accounting data and reconcile any financial irregularities by completing or directing forensic accounting research for compliance, and establishing quality over transactions and reporting.
- Manage accounts payable by confirming payment documentation, referencing outstanding bills, adjusting the debt balance, and disbursing funds.
- Examine and reconcile the general ledger, detecting and investigating extensively any discrepancies, and taking the appropriate corrective actions to address them.
- Conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures to confirm that all entries have been made and posted, assuring information completeness, accuracy, and cohesion.
- Manage administrative personnel within the department and impart knowledge of accounting and reporting to other departments.
Skills and Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or business accounting
- Personal honesty; the capacity to maintain client and company confidences
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting and corporate finance principles and practices
- Auditing and international accounting knowledge
- Eagerness to learn and further develop skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with accounting software systems
- Mathematical talent or enthusiasm borne of innate ability
- Strong attention to detail and appreciation for meeting deadlines
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting standards
- License as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
