Job Purpose:

Determine the overall tax liability (direct & indirect tax) for Client and optimize the taxation structure of the organization to ensure minimum tax liability while ensuring statutory adherence

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Business Planning:
  1. Understand business objectives and derive implications for the taxation structure and processes
  2. Establish an effective and robust taxation structure to provide timely, accurate and consistent inputs for tax payments and tax management
  3. Lead short term, medium term and long term tax planning for BUs
  4. Identify changes in the environment (political, legal) and derive implications for tax structuring and management appropriately amending the same for Client
  • Tax Management:
  1. Develop tax-related policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory standards
  2. Establish effective tax structuring for the organization in a manner that suffices compliance with regulatory norms while minimizing tax liability
  3. Guide computation of all direct and indirect taxes to be levied on the organization, in accordance with applicable tax laws
  4. Drive the preparation of the quarterly and annual returns, provide all information as per the tax assessment personnelā€™s request and ensure that the organization saves and optimizes tax by presenting legitimate tax and investment data
  5. Define guidelines for appropriate verification of invoices received from vendors for statutory compliance like GST, Direct taxation, and general compliances like structure of the invoice, compliance to terms, etc.
  6. Manage corporate taxation and compliances with allied laws to ensure that the companyā€™s finances are accurately reported
  7. Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to oversee escalations are effectively managed and functional objectives are met
  • Operational Excellence:
  1. Monitor and provide operational support to the payroll team with respect to taxation such as impact of changes in income tax on payroll, support for final settlement of retired/separation cases and support for preparation of annual statement of income tax
  2. Submit requests to relevant tax departments for rectification as and when required and file appeal with competent authorities accordingly
  • People Management:
  1. Provide inputs for the annual manpower plan and budget of the function
  2. Drive a culture of performance amongst subordinates – set goals, review and manage performance, guide and counsel and provide feedback on performance so as to ensure a motivated and committed team
  3. Develop the capabilities to take on higher responsibilities while performing the given/in-charge responsibilities at various levels within the functions
  4. Participate in succession planning and recruitment of critical senior & middle management positions within the function
  5. Oversee training of teams to meet the requirements of the role

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualification: –

  • Chartered Accountant or equivalent

Experience: –

  • 12-15 years of experience in Finance & Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
