Essential Duties & Tasks:
- Create manual and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
- Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
- Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
- Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
- Track the progress of projects and perform the capitalization upon completion of the project supported with the proper documentation.
- Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
- Calculate depreciation/amortization for all fixed and intangible assets.
- Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
- Calculate asset retirement obligations for those fixed assets.
- Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
- Ability of evaluation management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
- Conduct analyses related to fixed assets
- Maintain schedules list of fixed assets and prepare account management for auditors.
- Attend on any audit queries related to PPE.
- Prepare VAT returns for the fixed assets
- Maintain and track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
- Closely work with consultants for the asset-tagging process and maintaining the FA register.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Experience:
- Proven experience as Fixed Asset Accountant or similar role
- Excellent understanding of Sun System, Dynamic 365, OracleR12
