Job title: Accountant
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
Staff reporting: None
Candidate will be responsible to provide support to the Finance Department by managing daily accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. The role is based at our Dubai office and would suit a qualified accountant from a practice background and someone who is keen to enhance their knowledge regarding GCC VAT specifically UAE, Bahrain & KSA VAT.
Main Responsibilities
• Liaising and closely overseeing the invoicing process with the outsource office
• Finalizing draft invoices in the system once the client had made payment
• Handling and maintaining Petty Cash
• Bank reconciliation, Accounts Receivables and Payables functions
• Assisting in general and sub-ledger reconciliations
• Assisting in intercompany/related-party reconciliations
• VAT return filing for UAE & Bahrain entities
• Assisting in the preparation of management reports on a monthly/quarterly/annually basis
• Assisting in financial and tax audits (e.g., preparing audit schedules, liaising with Auditors, etc.)
• Providing support to the budget preparation process
• Producing error-free financial and accounting reports as and when needed
Additional Duties
• Prepare deposits slips to be presented to the bank for cheques received from clients
• Prepare receipts issued to clients upon making payment
• Perform all other tasks assigned by the department head
Qualifications
• Minimum 3-5 years proven experience as an Accountant
• UAE/Middle East experience of at least 2 years will be preferred
• Qualified in any professional course relating to finance is an advantage (CA, ACCA, CPA, etc.)
• Excellent English communication (written and verbal) skills
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Good accounting knowledge and hands-on experience with ERP/accounting software
• Have an eye for detail and a good deal of common sense
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Flexible and mature approach with ability to work unsupervised
• Interested in continually learning about UAE, Bahrain and KSA VAT and other tax laws
• Strong interpersonal ability coupled with rapport building, effective listening, questioning and summarizing skills
• Fast learner, driven, innovative and proactive
