This position is responsible for providing operational support for surgical services activities to the Leadership team; provide content/subject matter knowledge in support of assigned projects and develop deliverables. This includes, but not limited to, the daily managing and monitoring of OR efficiency metrics to maximize daily surgical scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the surgical scheduling team and their supervisors to performance manage the team and ensure day to day surgical scheduling operations are run efficiently in line with scheduling policies and workflows
  • Manages daily OR schedules and add-ons
  • Manages anesthesia resource allocation
  • Manages and monitors operating room efficiency metrics and block utilization by ensuring the room schedule is flexible enough to meet daily surgical demands.
  • Works with department leadership to identify and resolve staffing and scheduling challenges and demands.
  • Develops and monitors productivity dashboards.
  • Assists in developing department specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and methods for tracking performance.
  • Monitors department KPIā€™s and identifies opportunities to improve efficiencies and meet metrics
  • Works with Surgical Services Admin and Medical Director to assess workforce planning needs
  • Supports the selection process for supplies/implants, instruments, and equipment utilized within Surgical Services and the associated Procedural rooms.
  • Partners with Institute Chiefs, Administrators, and departmentā€™s Nursing Leadership to identify, design, develop, and implement quality, continuous improvement and growth initiatives.
  • Compiles and organizes relevant quality and patient safety information for third party performance measurement organizations.
  • Performs other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorā€™s degree in Nursing is required
  • Master in Health Care Administration or Business Administration is preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience is required
  • Valid and active current national license
