The Role

Reporting into the Finance Director – MET, the key purpose of this role is to:

  • Take ownership for designing, planning and implementing the MET GEO monthly, quarterly forecast and budget process
  • Drafting high quality outputs for key stakeholders (CD, FD, Group finance etc.) on forecasts, budgets and key issues and by doing so providing the senior management team with insight on key opportunities and challenges to inform decision making
  • Review and challenge weekly cashflow forecasts for the region prior to Group submission
  • Work with Finance Managers and Mumbai team to ensure a smooth month-end close, providing FD/CD with a summary of results vs budget / forecast / prior year
  • Review of contract and rental agreements, ensuring costs are correctly reflected in the accounts.
  • Ownership for driving the Finance systems and Controls agenda with support from MET finance managers. Activity is likely to include new product rollouts, progressing wholesale banknote reporting maturity and identifying efficiencies and reporting and manual reconciliations.
  • Provision of commercial business partnering
  • Manage and coach a team of 2 direct reports (finance country managers) with a dotted line to a further two country managers

Key tasks in the role

Act as a business partner, who successfully manages a varied and changing agenda, and consistently delivers high quality deliverables which meet or exceed stakeholder expectations. Deploys the following skills and aptitude to do so:

  • Understands business needs and flexes priorities as required. Proactively communicates material impacts of reprioritization to effected stakeholders
  • Constructively, questions and challenges to fully understand business needs and problems
  • Embraces new requirements and problems and independently designs, builds and implements solutions, leveraging internal & external stakeholders to do so
  • At times flexes working hours to meet key deadlines

Take ownership for designing the monthly, quarterly forecasting and budget approach and timeline. Seek feedback on these proposals from key stakeholders and amend as required. Communicate instructions, templates and manage submissions received. Establish best practice across the planning process. Draft high quality and insightful key outputs for the GEO on forecasts, budgets and key issues.

Ensure outputs and analysis is consistently produced to a high standard (including accuracy) and is presented in a format which provides clear insight to the intended audience to inform decision making.

Proactively identify areas that require process improvement and opportunities to increase the efficiency of reporting. Discuss and agree proposed changes with the relevant stakeholders and see agreed changes through to implementation.

Oversee the Finance Controls agenda, with support from MET finance managers, ensuring controls issues and audit and statutory audit findings are closed on a timely basis.

Provide commercial business partnering to the Geo. Provide commercial insight, review and challenge to both new business opportunities and renewal of existing contracts. Gain external stakeholder exposure on commercial matters and build rapport and influence with key external stakeholders.

Utilize and coach reports within the team to support you in delivery of your responsibilities and provide them with opportunities to broaden their experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling skills
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to deliver high quality outputs to tight timescales
  • Demonstrable evidence of taking the initiative and working independently to drive a number of different projects
  • Driven to continue development within the Finance community
  • Ability to develop effective relationships across functional areas
