Job purpose:
Direct and manage the Accounting & reporting functions to ensure they operate in line with corporate standards and are focused in supporting the achievement of corporate objectives.
Scope of the Role
ā¢ Directs the daily accounting record and monthly accounting close processes, ensuring that all journal entries and analysis are completed timely and accurately to support the financial close.
ā¢ Manages all aspects of the monthly close process. Execution of timely monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, and accurate reporting in accordance with Standards and Practices, in liaison with the relevant Business/Function (including: Perform Period End Close Routines, Create Estimates, Reconcile Bank Daybook and Close Daybooks). Create estimates including: Estimate accruals for ‘missing invoices’ from AFE and contract forecasts, Estimate accruals for unapproved invoices and goods received, Calculate partner service accruals and estimate other accruals, Review and estimate prepayments, Review and approval of estimates listing and Update JDB for entries.
ā¢Manage Bank Daybook reconciliation, including: Investigate Differences, Resolve Differences and Generate Bank Daybook Postings.
ā¢Ensures that corporate policies and procedures are complied with at the department level (In liaison with Control and System Org. Unit).
ā¢Maintain the integrity of the journal daybook and financial systems.
ā¢Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
ā¢Resolve accounting discrepancies (In liaison with Control and System Org. Unit). Collate IFRS/ Local GAAP supplementary information.
ā¢Manage the execution of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting in accordance with Standards and Practices, in liaison with the relevant Business/Function.
ā¢Produce Operating Account Report (in liaison with Op. Acc. Organisational Unit).
ā¢Produce Cost Recovery Report (in liaison with Op. Acc. Organisational Unit).
ā¢Produce Partner Billing Statements (in liaison with Op. Acc. Organisational Unit).
ā¢Other duties as assigned.
Team Lead Role (30%-40% of time)
ā¢Lead a team of qualified, part qualified and trainee financial accountants.
ā¢Plan, organise and lead Team accounting activities within teamās scope of activity according to the general accounting calendar.
ā¢Establishes and implements short and long-term departmental goals, objectives, and enforces policies and operating procedures
ā¢Ensure team objectives are set at appropriate times and team development and appraisal conversations occur in a timely manner.
ā¢Sustain and enhance the General Accounting team capabilities through staff selection, recruitment, training, development coaching, counselling and succession planning.
To ensure that the following activities are covered by the team:
ā¢Closing process Management: Reconcile Daybooks, Aggregate / Classify and Extract Data, Create Estimates, Perform Period End Close routines and Close Daybooks.
ā¢Reviews and approves the completeness of monthly, quarterly and annually financial statements prior to submitting for final review.
ā¢Journal Daybook Management.

Partnership Management
Ā· Establish strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective capturing of business needs and delivery of customer centric services through strong relationship management that is coupled with in depth technical expertise and support.
Tax Accounting & Reporting Activities
Ā· Responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are correctly accounted for in-order to provide credible assurance that accounting records reflect financial transactions and positions in accordance with Provisās accounting policies, guidelines and IFRS standards.
Ā· Responsible for ensuring adherence to Tax and VAT laws, regulatory guidance and reporting timelines so that Provis will be in full compliance with its obligations towards public authorities.
SAP Finance Process
Ā· Direct and facilitate the coordination with relevant internal and external parties (Banks and Clients) within Provis to ensure a healthy integration of Finance SAP across the organization.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Ā· Develop and lead the implementation of departmental policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned department so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
Change Management
Ā· Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of departmental systems, processes and practices considering global standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.
Reporting
Ā· Ensure that all departmental reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet Provisās requirements, policies and quality standards.
Provide all required financial reports that are timely and relevant to various stakeholders (Board of Directors, Executive Management team, Shareholders, Internal & External Audit and external regulatory authorities).
Education
Ā· ACA/ ACCA/ CMA and Bachelorās degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience and Skills
4-6 years of professional experience with at least 2 years in a similar capacity, preferably within the Real Estate industry.
Solid understanding of Accounting and Financial principles: Knowledge of finance and accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
